The project covered infrastructure and landscape improvements across the Export Park precinct consisting of three main stages.
Reserve 1A & entry landscape including demolition & earthworks, electrical & lighting, CCTV, custom shelter, furniture, footpath upgrade, irrigation, advanced trees, turf and soft landscape.
The detention basin consisted of investigation, assessment, and remedial works to the basin including widening the basin floor and embankments and revegetation.
The streetscape and footpath upgrades included demolition works, and new footpaths including improvements to DDA access and mobility.
The project posed a number of challenges being located within an operational airport precinct. A high level of communication with the key stakeholders was needed to ensure that the
works did not impact on the airport operations, it’s tenants or the safety precautions required by the Australian Federal Police.
Finish heights of existing infrastructure and building entrances posed several challenges through the projects design. Bespoke designs and path set-backs needed to be adopted to ensure the finished project would provide increased usability and DDA access to the precinct.
By adopting our waste management practices & sustainability targets, we implemented bioretention planting in basin to naturally filter stormwater to improve downstream water health of Karrawirra Parri, planted 50 new trees and 6,000 native plants to promote urban cooling, diverted approximately 54m³ recyclables, 30t of organics and 6t of steel from landfill, and used more than 1,000t of recycled rubble and sand on site.
