Vimy Avenue Median Design & Construct

Creatively designed to showcase both the coastal and outback environments of South Australia, the project aimed to create a vibrant and unique entry to Catalyst Park including:

  • Demolition & site clearing
  • Irrigation system
  • Continuous sinuous native grass strip
  • Mass ground cover and shrub planting
  • Local SA river rock features with natural sand pavements
  • Recycled plastic edging
  • Feature SA bluestone boulders
  • Semi-advanced trees.

All works contributed to the client’s sustainability targets.

Developing the final design required many concepts and input from BluScape and Sproutt to ensure we captured the character of the precinct. Methodological staging of the works was required to ensure that traffic movements were not restricted to the transport hub during construction. The site was situated in a road median, meaning it was quite restrictive. Site
access required a modified approach to importing and exporting materials and safely executing groundworks.

By adopting our waste management practices and sustainability targets, we were able to achieve 40% canopy and greenlife coverage to the landscape, save 114m³ organic waste from landfill, and ameliorate and reuse more than 500t of site soil in the new gardens.
